A Family-Run Nursery School Since 1958
Broadhurst School was founded in 1958 by Mrs Mary Berkery with a clear ambition: to raise the standard of early years education through a rigorous, accelerated programme tailored to the curiosity and potential of very young children. Drawing on her Montessori training, Mrs Berkery created a welcoming and calm environment especially designed for children to make independent enquiry and learn through practical and specialised methods.
Almost seven decades on, the school remains in the family, with Mrs Berkery’s son, Mr Brian Berkery, as proprietor. He carries forward her legacy with the same commitment to quality and individual attention. In a world where school ownership frequently changes hands, this continuity is genuinely rare and deeply valued by the families who choose us.
Just as Mrs Berkery believed from the very beginning, children learn best through play, exploration and discovery, and that belief remains at the heart of everything we do at Broadhurst today. Our individual daily sessions with each child sit alongside a rich programme of playful, creative experiences, so that every pupil leaves us confident, curious and truly prepared for the next chapter.
